Golden Drum Supreme Advertising Court

37 members of seven juries will judge this year's vintage of New European and European advertising industry.

FILM, PRESS, OUTDOOR AND RADIO JURY

Stefan Schmidt, Chief Creative Officer TBWA\ Group Germany- president

Stefan started out as a Copywriter at Publicis in 1987. He rose to fame at Ogilvy & Mather in the early 90’s, where he created campaigns for Deutsche Bahn, Pro Kennex Tennis Equipment and American Express. He left O&M in 1994 to join Springer & Jacoby working on Spiegel and Mercedes Benz. In April 1999 he was one of the founding members of S&J International in London.

Stefan has won hundreds of international creative awards for Mercedes Benz, Lufthansa, Spiegel, Playstation, Adidas and Kawasaki including Cannes, Clio, Euro ADC, Eurobest and New York Festival.

Since April 2002 he is Co-Chief Creative Officer and member of the German Management Board of TBWA\. At the same time he’s still writing ads for the clients handled in the Berlin office – adidas, Apple, Playstation, Absolut Vodka and Masterfoods.

Stefan is also a member of the German Art Directors Club and the British D&AD.

ADVERTISING CAMPAIGNS JURY

Adrian Botan, Chief Creative Director, McCann Erickson CEE - president

Adrian studied Architecture & Design in Bucharest in the early 90’s, trying to find a job that is artistic but also has rational side to it. Later, he found out advertising offers the perfect match and something more - a lot of fun. So it happened that he started the professional career in 1995 as a designer in a small Romanian design shop. In 1997 he worked as an art-director for DMB&B (later to become D’Arcy), where he was surrounded with some of the members of the team that won the first ever international Gold and Silver award for Romania in Golden Drum, the Festival of the New Europe.
Adrian joined McCann Erickson in 1998. In several years as a creative director, his team won over 150 awards for creativity and effectiveness, while McCann was six times the Agency of the Year in three national and regional competitions including Golden Drum. In 2007 McCann Romania was mentioned in the Gunn Report’s Top 50 creative agencies in the world.

Adrian is Regional Creative Director for Central East Europe at McCann Erickson since 2006, Deputy Managing Director and Executive Creative Director of McCann Erickson Bucharest, founder, member and Vice-president of Romanian Art Directors Club, Vice-president of Romanian Advertising Agencies Association.

Mariusz Jan Demner, Managing Partner, Demner, Merlicek & Bergmann, Austria - president

Demner grew up in Vienna and on Lake Geneva. He studied law, journalism and art and speaks five languages.

He started his own advertising agency at the age of 23 with the goal of becoming the country’s creative.

Mariusz Jan Demner was co-founder of the Creative Club Austria (CCA). Furthermore, he is a member of both the ADC New York and the ADC Germany and is also Vice-President of the IAA_Austria (International Advertising Association).

INTERACTIVE JURY

Martin Lange, Managing Director argonauten G2, Germany - president

Martin was appointed Managing Director of argonauten G2, Berlin, in 2008 following a straight career leading argonauten G2 to be one of Germany’s top creative digital powerhouses. He started working on accounts like Bacardi and Bayer-Schering helping them gain international digital standing. Having spent one year as external consultant at Coca-Cola Germany, he led the office to become their lead digital agency in Germany and to win international assignments like the global Coca-Cola World Cup campaign in 2006 and the global Fanta digital campaign in 2007.

As Managing Director of argonauten G2 in Berlin, Martin leads top international brands like Coca-Cola, Volkswagen, UBS, Grohe, La Prairie and the Berlin Philharmonics. His award history is impressive, having won both national as well as international prices like the ADC, New York Festivals and LIAA. As much as work has defined Martin’s last years he enjoys true rock music as well as the outdoors, above the water and below.


DESIGN & ART DIRECTION JURY

Franco Moretti, Group Chief Creative Director, Leo Burnett Italy and president of ADC*E Europe - president

Franco studied architecture in Italy. He began his career in advertising as an illustrator in Australia and proceeded from Assistant Art Director to Art Director to Group Head and Creative Director in three agencies.

In 1973 he joined McCann-Erickson in Milan as Senior Art Director Group Head, in charge of major International Clients such as Coca-Cola, Nestle, Martini & Rossi, GM, Gillette, Nabisco brands.

He was elected, together with Milka Pogliani, Executive Creative Director Vice President of the three Italian McCann offices in 1984, leading the agency’s creative reputation amongst the top in the worldwide networks.

In 1990 he was named Senior Vice President of McCann Worldwide and European Creative Director in charge of creative resources. He was elected President of the Italian Art Directors Club in 1995, a responsibility that he held for the following four years.

He continued by joining Leo Burnett Italy as Chief Creative Officer in 1996 and inspired by a culture committed to superior creativity, he drove the agency’s reputation amongst the top creative Italian agencies. He was named Group Vice Chairman in 2001.

During his career he and his team have earned top recognitions from most international and national creative competitions and Franco was elected Chairman as well as jury member on most top international advertising competitions. Today he is President of the Art Directors Club of Europe and seats on the Board of directors of Pubblicitŕ Progresso Foundation. He teaches at IULM Milan University Communication sciences.

PR JURY

Dejan Verčič, PhD, partner at Pristop agency and Associate Professor of Public Relations at the University of Ljubljana - president

Among his clients are governments, domestic and international corporations, and associations. He holds a Ph.D. from the London School of Economics. In 2001 he has been presented with the Alan Campbell-Johnson Medal for special achievements in the field of international public relations by the Institute of Public Relations (UK). Since 1994 he annually organises the Lake Bled International Public Relations Research Symposia. His most recent publications are books Public Relations Metrics (2008) and The Global Handbook of Public Relations (expanded ed. 2009).

BEST ACT AWARD – CLIENTS' JURY

Andrew Hammett, Global Advertising Development Department CEEMEA, Procter & Gamble, Germany – president

For the past 25 years Andrew Hammett has worked in most categories at Procter & Gamble. He is a part of a small global specialist internal consultancy for communication development, learning and training, called advertising development and is currently responsible for supporting communication in their CEEMEA region (Central Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa) for all fabric and care brands and for laundry brands in all low income (developing) global markets. He loves this region for its diversity and the fascinating socio-political dimensions to the work.

Andrew is based in Frankfurt. He went to Oxford University where he got his chemistry degree.

In his spare time he is a member of the board of Oxfam in Germany and consultant to Oxfam International as well as a keen sportsman.
